Manual Handling Policy
Caring for children and young people naturally involves the lifting and carrying of babies and
children, as well as equipment. Incorrect lifting techniques can result in serious back injuries
as well as the risk of fractures and sprains to limbs.
For this reason, at Felicity's Fledglings we ensure that staff are correctly trained in lifting
techniques.
We do this by:
On site induction training for staff.
Offer regular training to refresh techniques.
Staff observe one another to ensure that lifting techniques will not damage themselves or
endanger a child.
