Safety Policy
The Safety of children is of paramount importance. In order to ensure the safety of children
the Nursery staff will ensure that:
All children are supervised by adults at all times and will always be in sight of an adult.
A report form is available at each session for the reporting of any accident or incident.
Children will leave the Nursery only with authorised adults.
Outdoor space is securely enclosed.
Equipment is checked regularly and any dangerous items are discarded.
The layout and space ratios allow children and adults to move safely and freely between
activities.
Adults do not walk with hot drinks or place within reach of children.
Fire drills are held half termly.
A register for staff and children is completed each session.
Felicity’s Fledglings operates a no smoking policy.
A first aid box is available at all times and is situated in the reception area of both buildings.
Children are sleeping are checked every 10 minutes.
All toys are cleaned and checked every 4 weeks, any broken toys are removed throughout.
The sand is covered with a fitted cover and is cleaned every four weeks.
The Nursery manager is overall responsible for health and safety issues.
Any hazards/risks that are identified need to be put into action per risk assessment. If we
are able to do so this will be reported to either Felicity or Chloe immediately so the risk can
be resolved safely.
Any member of staff who becomes pregnant needs to inform the Nursery Manager as soon
as they wish her to know. A risk assessment will then take place and Felicity will make sure
that the member of staff is cared for throughout and is placed in the most suitable
environment for working in. The maternity rights are found out to be current laws.
