About Us

Felicity’s Fledglings opened in August of 2018, the Nursery is based in the centre of Barnstaple opposite the bus station. The Nursery itself boasts a homely environment with dedicated and experienced staff. The layout of our nursery comprises of a separate Nursery building for babies and toddlers and an additional large spacious preschool for our children aged 3 plus. We have an enclosed playground with safety flooring and a range of outdoor equipment. There is parking directly outside the nursery for drop off and collection and the nearby Summerland road has short stay parking spaces for 20 minutes, there is also a carpark situated within a few metres of the Nursery.

Staff

All of our staff are first aid trained and are DBS cleared, they undertake regular training to ensure that they are kept up to standard.

Delivering the Curriculum & Planning

We ensure that the children experience a varied Nursery day and that activities are varied and stimulating, we plan around the EYFS and provided a range of activities which are adult led and child initiated. The children’s learning and development is recorded in their own personal learning journey, this includes their artwork, observations and photos. We hold parent consultations twice annually.

Daily Diaries & The Famly app – Communication with parents

We use a daily communication diaries and daily report sheets which are sent home with recordings of what your child has achieved and done during their day at Nursery, this includes recording what they have eaten, their mood, what they have enjoyed playing with and participating in.

The famly app is an online portal which each parent is invited to join so that they can log into the platform and see what their child has been doing during the day. This enables us to share photos, events and observations with each parent on a regular basis.

There is also a seperate kitchen. Adjacent to the main play room is a reading corner where you can find a varied range of books. You will find the playground directly outside of the toddler room which the children enjoy using daily.
